STEM CTE Teacher

 

Job Description

Mabton School District is seeking a middle school STEM/Science teacher to introduce students to the wide range of pathways available in STEM fields through engaging, project-based learning experiences. This position is designed to spark curiosity, build foundational science and technical skills, and help students make meaningful connections between classroom learning and future college and career opportunities. We are looking for candidates who have experience teaching in STEM-related fields, have relevant STEM industry experience, or are willing to obtain a CTE endorsement within two years of hire. A current STEM or CTE endorsement is not required at the time of application, but candidates should demonstrate a commitment to becoming CTE endorsed within the required timeline.

Essential Functions

 

CTE teachers may enter the profession through either the Plan 1 (University Preparation) or Plan 2 (Business & Industry) route as recognized by OSPI. The position supports candidates transitioning directly from industry or from teacher preparation programs and provides mentoring to complete all requirements for the Initial CTE Certificate.

Candidates hired under Plan 2 must complete all OSPI-required pedagogy coursework within the timelines established by OSPI to maintain continued certification and employment.

Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) Leadership

As a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher, you will be responsible for facilitating, advising, and supporting a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) aligned with your instructional program. CTSOs are an integral co-curricular component of CTE programs and support student leadership, employability skill development, and career readiness.

  1. Career and Technical Education Certification or willingness to get one
  2. Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance

 

180 days at 7.5 hours per day

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical
demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching,
twisting, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 35% sitting, 35%
walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some
hazardous conditions.
