                                                      JOB   DESCRIPTION

 

 

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:   Maintain a clean and safe building and grounds.

 

 

 

 

DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO:  Building Principal and Maintenance/Transportation Supervisor

 

MAJOR FUNCTIONS  AND  RESPONSIBILITIES:                                         

 

  1. Keep building and grounds clean, safe and sanitary by performing custodial functions including mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting and cleaning.

 

  1. Implement necessary repairs both in the building and on the grounds.

 

  1. Ability to make minor electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs at building site as directed by supervisor.

 

  1. Perform all scheduled work assignments and additional requests determined by the principal and/or supervisor.

 

  1. Know location and operation of all service shut-offs in the building including hot and cold water, gas, electricity  and fire equipment

 

  1. Set up facilities for organizations using or renting the school as directed by supervisor.

 

  1. Maintain building security:  Doors and windows closed and locked properly at the appropriate time.

 

  1. Other duties as assigned.   

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Employment is based upon passing of a physician physical exam.

 

Education/experience:

 

High School Diploma or GED with three (3) years related trade experience. A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the criteria listed above and satisfies the knowledge, skills, and abilities requirements will also be considered.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
MENTAL DEMANDS
Required to deal with a wide range of student, staff and public behaviors and needs in a positive and service-oriented
manner. May occasionally deal with distraught or difficult students or parents.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Amount of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and twisting will vary depending on the age of students and classroom
assignments. Physical capabilities also require lifting and carrying (no more than 50 lbs.) pushing and/or pulling,
stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, and significant finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires
approximately 35% sitting, 35% walking, and 30% standing. Maintaining good hygiene is essential.
