POSITION SUMMARY Mabton School District is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Custodian/Bus Driver to provide custodial services and safely transport students. This combined position is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and orderly school facilities while providing reliable student transportation on assigned routes and for District activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES Custodial • Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, kitchens, gyms, and other District facilities. • Perform routine custodial and grounds maintenance duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing, emptying trash, and replenishing supplies. Maintain District grounds by mowing lawns, trimming trees and vegetation, performing general grounds upkeep, and applying approved lawn and grounds maintenance products using a backpack sprayer. Set up, take down, lift, move, and arrange student tables, kitchen/cafeteria tables, chairs, furniture, and equipment. • Secure buildings and report maintenance, safety, vandalism, or facility concerns. • Safely operate custodial equipment and use cleaning products according to established procedures. • Assist with snow, ice, grounds, minor maintenance, and other custodial needs as assigned.
Bus Driver • Safely transport students on assigned routes, field trips, athletic trips, and other District activities. • Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. • Follow established routes, schedules, traffic laws, and District transportation procedures. • Maintain safe and appropriate student behavior while students are on the bus. • Complete required transportation records and report accidents, mechanical problems, student incidents, or safety concerns. • Maintain assigned vehicle in a clean and safe condition. • Participate in required driver training, safety meetings, and emergency procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • Valid Washington State driver's license and acceptable driving record. • Must possess or obtain the appropriate Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Passenger (P) endorsement, School Bus (S) endorsement, and Washington school bus driver authorization, as required. • Must meet applicable OSPI, Washington State, and federal school bus driver requirements. • Must successfully complete required background checks/fingerprinting, physical/medical requirements, and required training. • Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and District vehicles. • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently. • Ability to communicate professionally and work effectively with students, staff, families, and the public. • Regular and punctual attendance is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and regularly move, push, pull, lift, set up, and take down student tables, kitchen/cafeteria tables, chairs, furniture, custodial supplies, and equipment. Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, and repetitive movements. Employee must be able to safely enter and exit a school bus and perform required emergency and evacuation procedures. Must meet all applicable physical and medical requirements for school bus drivers. Reasonable accommodations may be provided as required by law.
