POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Food Service Secretary Directly Responsible To:
Business Manager

 

Primary Purpose: This position is to provide support to the food service director to ensure all
OSPI reporting requirements are met. The position also ensures proper cash handling procedures
are followed in accordance with Washington State auditing standards.

 

Description of Responsibilities:

 

A. Prepares district food service application annually.
B. Completes grant applications & claims for food service as applicable.
C. Prepares October food service building data report.
D. Prepares February food service verification report & on site review.
E. Receipts food service sales daily.
F. Prepares deposit & takes to the bank daily.
G. Counts student meals & completes meal count forms.
H. File district food service claim reimbursements in WINS monthly.
I. Uploads direct certifications in Skyward.
J. Distribute, collect, record family income surveys in Skyward.
K. Complies with all OSPI Food Service Reporting requirements.
L. Creates purchase orders in Skyward.
M. Transports inter district mail daily.
N. Assists with meal service and meal preparation.
O. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Required to deal with a wide range of student, staff and public behaviors and needs in a positive and service-oriented manner. 
  • May occasionally deal with distraught or difficult students or parents.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Amount of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and twisting will vary depending on the age of students and classroom assignments.
  • Physical capabilities also require lifting and carrying (no more than 50 lbs.) pushing and/or pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and significant finger dexterity.
  • Generally the job requires approximately 35% sitting, 35% walking, and 30% standing.
  • Maintaining good hygiene is essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED. AA Degree or equivalent with previous bookkeeping/clerical experience preferred.
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting and/or evidence of an interest in supporting learning experiences.
  • Preferred: ability to communicate effectively using both English and Spanish, to include reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Must possess accuracy, be detailed oriented, work independently, and have problem solving
    skills.
  • Ability to prepare bank deposits accurately and timely.
  • Ability to use computer & software programs. Skyward, MS Excel & Word preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents preferably in English or Spanish. 
  • Possess the desire to be a role model for students and to interact positively with students.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the public.

 

 

WORK SCHEDULE:


This position consists of 197 work days at 6.5 hours per day.
